eSIM Not Working? Troubleshooting and Plan Choices

Most eSIM problems come from installation, line selection, roaming settings or the phone being locked to another network. Work through the checks below before deleting the profile.

Start with the safest checks

  1. Make sure the eSIM line is switched on in Cellular or SIM settings.
  2. Choose the travel eSIM as the mobile-data line when you are abroad.
  3. Enable data roaming for the travel line if the provider requires it.
  4. Turn airplane mode on for a few seconds, then turn it off.
  5. Restart the phone and check whether the plan has remaining validity and data.

Common symptoms and what they mean

No service or no signal

Check that the phone is compatible and not carrier-locked. If the provider permits manual network selection, try an available local network listed in its instructions.

Signal appears but mobile data does not work

Recheck the selected data line and roaming setting. An incorrect APN can also block data, but only use the APN values supplied by the provider.

The eSIM will not install

Installation needs an internet connection. Use WiFi or working data, confirm the QR code has not already been used, and avoid deleting a profile that may be single-use.

How to choose a replacement or next plan

Compare the destination first, then match the plan to how you will use your phone. A short trip may need less validity; navigation, video and hotspot use usually justify a larger data allowance. Check whether the listing includes hotspot support, and compare price per GB when plans use the same currency and validity range.

Our provider comparison shows live catalogue totals, while each destination page lets you compare plans and open a tracked provider deal.

When to contact the provider

Contact the provider if the profile is installed but cannot register after the settings checks, if the plan was charged but never delivered, or if you need a replacement QR code. Keep the order reference and the phone model ready. Do not publish an activation code in a public support forum.
